Welcome!

Here's a little (a lot) about me:

Hello! My name is Ryan Hill and I am a filmmaker and production assistant based in Hollywood, CA originally from Sandwich, Massachusetts (which I promise is a real place!)

Before moving to Los Angeles, I was a middle and high school teacher in Massachusetts. I created and taught the media production program at Sandwich High School and STEM Academy, where my teaching focused on applied production skills in video, television, radio, and podcasting. Now several years and one major career change later I live in Los Angeles and spend my days as a freelance production assistant, assistant editor, and post-production assistant.

Besides my creative endeavors, I am an avid traveler who has visited forty-eight of the United States and nearly fifty State and US National Parks. I play guitar and piano, write songs, spend arguably too much time obsessing over The Beach Boys, and collect 16mm films featuring my hero, Dick Van Dyke.

Recently I worked as the post-production assistant for season one of ABC's hit sitcom Abbott Elementary and TBS's Chad. Other recent projects include the Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles's immersive production of Macbeth, the film of which I served as both DP and editor for, and a series of audio adaptations of the films of the Coen Brothers with friend and collaborator Daniel Kadish.

I hope you take the time to explore the rest of this website, where you can find examples of my work as an editor, cinematographer, writer, director, illustrator, musician, and much more!
